Step 1: Setup

Connect your headphones, read the introduction and set a comfortable volume.

The Setup step has three short screens.

Welcome

The wizard explains that it will tune your sound to match your hearing, and reminds you to plug in or pair your headphones. It also shows the type of device it found. Select Next when you are ready.

Hearing aids and cochlear implants

This screen explains how to cover each way you listen:

  • Hearing aid: create profiles for unaided listening through headphones or earbuds, and for aided listening through your hearing aid.
  • Cochlear implant: create profiles for device speakers or cochlear implant Bluetooth.

Read it, then select Next. You can come back to it later. See Hearing aids and cochlear implants.

Audio test

You hear a man and a woman talking. The recording starts by itself.

  1. Listen for a moment.
  2. Use the volume slider to set a level that is comfortable for you.
  3. Select Next.

To read what the recording says, select Read what the recording says. Use the play and pause button if you want to stop the audio.

Good to know

  • The test recording plays through a neutral reference profile named Flat Profile, so you start from an unprocessed sound. If SonicCloud notices another profile is active, it offers a Switch to Flat Profile link.
  • If the wizard shows Could not verify profile, wait a moment and try again. If it persists, see Troubleshooting.
  • Set the volume once here and avoid changing it during the rest of the wizard, so each comparison is fair.

Next: Step 2: Basic hearing questions.
