Step 5: Fine tuning
Adjust each slider, and each ear, until the sound is right.
Fine tuning adjusts individual sliders on top of the profile you chose. Each screen focuses on one slider with a short instruction. Play the test audio, move the slider, and select Next when it sounds right.
Use wired headphones if you can
The wizard shows a reminder before this step: for the most accurate fine-tuning, use wired headphones or earbuds. Wireless audio adds a small delay that can throw off how these adjustments sound.
The screens
| Screen | What to do |
|---|---|
| Boost | Play the test audio. Move the Boost slider for each ear until both ears sound the same. |
| Sharpness | Play the audio and move Sharpness until it sounds right. You can set each ear on its own. |
| Richness | Adjust Richness until the sound feels full and rich, while staying clear. |
| Consonants | Move Consonants to make speech clearer. You can set each ear on its own. |
| Vowels | Tune the vowels. |
| Fullness | Adjust Fullness to open up the sound or compress it slightly, based on your preference. |
You may not see every screen. The wizard skips ones that do not apply to your answers.
Choosing an ear
On screens that allow it, use Ear Selection to pick Left, Both or Right. Use Both to move both ears together, and a single ear to correct a difference.
The sliders only move after the test audio is playing. If a slider is unavailable, the hint reads "Play the test audio to adjust."
Sharpness check
For some paths the wizard asks "How does that sound to you?" after the Sharpness screen. Choose I hardly raised it or I raised it noticeably. Your answer decides whether the wizard goes on to Consonants or straight to Richness.
Saving and comparing
After a group of adjustments the wizard asks you to save a profile, then to compare your new profile with an earlier one. Listen to both for at least 10 seconds, pick the one you like, and continue. See Save and finish.
For a description of each slider, see Sliders.
