Bluetooth headphones

Use SonicCloud with wireless headphones, and what to expect in calls.

SonicCloud works with Bluetooth headphones for music, video and other everyday listening. Wired headphones remain the best choice for tuning.

For everyday listening

Pair your headphones in your system settings, make them your default playback device, and SonicCloud prepares them automatically. Choose a profile and enjoy.

For tuning

Run the Tuning Wizard and fine-tune with wired headphones or earbuds when you can. Wireless audio adds a small delay that can throw off how adjustments sound, and it matters most if your hearing differs between ears.

You can still use the resulting profiles with your Bluetooth headphones afterward.

Calls and meetings

Many Bluetooth headsets switch to a different audio mode when a call app, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, uses the microphone. The system presents this as a separate Hands-Free device for the same headset.

Because of how the operating system handles this mode, SonicCloud may not process call audio on some Bluetooth headsets. If your profile is not applied in calls:

  • Use wired headphones or earbuds for calls.
  • In the call app's audio settings, try selecting the headset's Hands-Free device for speakers.
  • Check that the Processing light is green while you are in the call.

If the issue continues, contact support with your headset model and the call app you use.

Tips

  • Keep your headphones' firmware and operating system up to date.
  • If audio plays but sounds unprocessed after reconnecting, change the default device away and back, or select Enable Processing on Default Playback Devices from the notification area menu.
  • See Troubleshooting for more.
