# Expiration and offline use (/enterprise-offline/sc-key-server/expiration-and-offline-use)

Every SC Key has a start date and an expiration date. Your contract end date is the latest a key can expire.

- SonicCloud works offline until the key expires.
- New installations must activate while seats are available.
- Renewal uses a new authorized transaction, which needs a connection.
