# Renewal (/enterprise-offline/license-server/renewal)

When your contract renews, SonicCloud sends a new license file. An administrator imports it, and people keep working. Nobody needs to restart SonicCloud.

## Timeline [#timeline]

| When                  | Action                                      |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| 60 days before expiry | Request your renewal file.                  |
| 14 days before expiry | Import the new file.                        |
| After import          | Confirm the new seat count and expiry date. |

## Import the renewal [#import-the-renewal]

Sign in to the [admin console](/enterprise-offline/license-server/admin-console).

Open **Licenses** and select **Import License**.

Choose the new `.lic` file and confirm the seat count and expiry date shown.

Importing is the only way to add or renew a license. Licenses are issued by SonicCloud and cannot be edited.

## Expired licenses [#expired-licenses]

If a license expires, SonicCloud shows **License Expired** and asks users to contact their administrator. Importing a current license restores access.
