# License Server (/enterprise-offline/license-server)

The license server licenses SonicCloud for your whole organization from a server on your own network. It needs no internet connection and sends no data outside your organization.

## How licensing works for you [#how-licensing-works-for-you]

- **Floating seats.** A seat is used only while SonicCloud is open. Closing SonicCloud returns the seat.
- **License file.** SonicCloud sends you a `.lic` file. An administrator imports it in the admin console.
- **Installing is free of limits.** Install SonicCloud on as many workstations as you like. Only simultaneous use counts.
