# Activate a license (/enterprise-offline/license-server/activate-license)

If your organization gave you a license key, enter it in SonicCloud to activate.

### Open the activation window [#open-the-activation-window]

Open SonicCloud. If it asks for a license, or shows **Enter License Key**, select it. The **Activate License** window opens.

### Enter your key [#enter-your-key]

Type or paste your **License Key**.

### Activate [#activate-1]

Select **Activate**. SonicCloud confirms the license and you can start using it.

If you are unsure where to find your key, contact your administrator or [SonicCloud support](/support/contact).

## If SonicCloud says the license has expired [#if-soniccloud-says-the-license-has-expired]

SonicCloud shows **License Expired** and asks you to contact your administrator. Your administrator renews the license centrally, and no reinstall is needed. See [Renewal](/enterprise-offline/license-server/renewal).
